brent tylerFriday March 15th

He’s back. For those of you who remember, Brent has graced not only the stage of the MVMF but also performed a concert at our Roulston Museum a year ago. He is actually 7 feet tall, writes incredible tunes and is magnetic in his ability to draw in the listener.

Sign up here to reserve your ticket. The way we decide on where the performance venue will be is by how many tickets we sell. If we sell up to 30 the show will be at The Café Radio. If we sell up to 75 the show will be at the Roulston Museum. We promise the show will be one to remember. Buy Tickets Here for the show and other great artists coming to Carstairs.

We promise the show will be one to remember. Two Canadians, each very talented song writers and performers, will perform as a duo on their original material. Think rocky folky tunes with powerful voices and imaginative lyrics. Lynn Miles picked up new fans at the 2011 Mountain View Music Fest & Keith Glass can be remembered for being a driving force in Prairie Oyster. Buy Tickets Here for the show and other great artists coming to Carstairs.

The Roulston Museum is quickly becoming a favourite ‘mid sized’ venue in the town of Carstairs. With great atmosphere and acoustics the chapel has and will see many great artists to come.

Alberta Culture Days in Carstairs – 2012

Posted by MVMF on Oct 2, 2012 in Festival News | Comments Off

Carstairs City Limits presents:

A Report from the Boot, Shoot ‘N Boogies as part of Alberta Culture Days:

image_1

A whirlwind autumn adventure aligning the young and the old took place between 11am on Friday morning of September 28th and 11pm on Sunday the evening of September 30th.
The Polyjesters were sent out in the first line of defense into the Cultural battle with weapons firing. The chick chick of the Baritone Ukulele and Boom Boom of the Upright Bass allied well with the tank like percusion of the drums and noodly noodly rounds from the Arch-top Guitar. The sea of youth fired back with laughter as we tried to take the camp. Armed only with “Crazy Hair” they held the fort well and displayed incredible Cultural ability. The arms in the room were flung into the air when asked if they had received training on their Cultural weapons and we knew that we had been had.
The next battalion of troops that we encountered in this camp were the “We don’t give a crap but maybe you guys are OK” legion of Hugh Sutherland. Armed only with Sarcasm and “like whatever’s” we reached deep into the bowels of our strength and carried the load of “Heavy Metal”. When asked if they had received Cultural training they were not ready to raise their hands but when asked if they had received no training they didn’t raise their hands either so we said, “Well played troops … well played”.
The final stop in the mission was in front of an incredible engine of boundless energy. If you were able to capture this kinetic energy if only to fill a few street light batteries I’d say, “Where is the power chord?” An explosion of Culture went off in the Elementary School and the kids were spun up like little tops .. then released safely into the arms of their parents who thought, “Those darn Polyjesters are like sugar!”.
700 pamphlets were released into the backpacks or binders of the youth and they were sent off to get rested for the Pumpkin Fest the next day. Although numbers are never exactly what they seem it would appear to those people there that it was full but not packed.

There was however a large group of people waiting to get in to see the results of the contests of all kinds. There were heavy potatoes, enormous pumpkins and other members of the squash family. The flowers even showed up and the sunflowers even boasted a face larger than the sun who also showed up and stayed around for most of the weekend. It was later reported by the banjo player that the throngs of people at the Pumpkin Fest were there to see him perform. A “No official investigation” later indicated that their findings on this theory were not yet conclusive.

On the Sunday morning a vibrant, excited and able bodied crew set up a mini carnival at one of the most beautiful backdrops Carstairs and area has to offer; Silver Willow Golf & Sporting Club. Culture came out of the end of double barrelled shotgun. What a better way to appreciate your heritage no matter what part of the rest of the world you came from than through the sounds of your Ancestors. Guns went off as if they were personal fireworks celebrating the ability to blast a clay pigeon or two out of the sky whilst the bands played on.

Some young couples were seen dancing on the grass while little kids enjoyed the beautiful Autumn weather. Several colleagues of music met on, near and under the stage to discuss the true condition of the health line of their own particular cultural expertise. The Culture of the sportsman is as old as that of the artist for they are both art. And they both need to be discussed.
We, the Fellowship of the Mountain View Music Fest, would like to send out a warm thank you to all who supported this magical weekend. The audiences were varied and full and all showed appreciation for the arts. The volunteers chipped in and helped make the events a huge success. Thank you to Silver Willow Golf & Sporting Club, you are truly a unique and best kept secret for Carstairs. Sponsors and support from the Alberta Government make it all possible to help cover the costs of these events so that the residents of this province can enrich their lives with Culture.
